Roseminna McLeod Watson holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from Yale University, a Masters in Violin Performance from Stony Brook University and an Artist’s Diploma in Chamber Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is the former first violinist of the Aiana String Quartet, winners of the 2011 String Prize at the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition. As a violinist Roseminna has won numerous awards and much acclaim through collaborations with renowned artists including Menahem Pressler, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, Axel Strauss, Paul Hersh, David Tanenbaum, Jennifer Culp, and Jodi Levitz. Until recently her professional life has been largely built around classical music performance, however, Roseminna’s deep calling to express all elements and depths of her aesthetic, emotional and spiritual being has lead her to continuously explore and combine a multiplicity of artistic mediums, and to embark on original composition.
Roseminna performs as a solo act multimedia artist/singer/songwriter/violinist and is a frequent collaborator with dancers, artists, and other musicians, as well as a founding member of H u m m i n g O w l, a duo with her singer/songwriter/sitarist husband, Pablo Escalante. Her visual work in painting, printmaking and video center around a fascination with the human body as a vehicle that carries us closer to the divine. Her musical compositions are imbued with a haunting emotional immediacy and poignant nostalgia that reflects the process of time as a revelation of stasis and change, stagnancy and evolution. She is excited to announce the release of her first solo album, Limbic Hymnal, with original cover art, available at roseminnawatson.com for physical copy, and on the iTunes store for digital download.
